FIRE WATCH MAN – SAUDI ARABIA

The Firewatch position is designed to support safe execution of hot work activities by continuously monitoring work areas for fire risks. The primary responsibility is to observe welding and other spark-producing operations and ensure that no unsafe condition develops during the process. Firewatch workers act as a safety guard between hazardous activities and potential fire incidents. They must stay fully alert throughout their shift and understand basic industrial safety rules. This job plays a significant role in protecting workers, equipment, and facilities from fire-related accidents, making it an essential part of shutdown and maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

Firewatch personnel are responsible for inspecting the work area before any hot work begins to ensure it is safe and free from flammable materials. During operations, they continuously monitor welding, cutting, and grinding activities to detect any sign of fire risk. They must ensure that fire extinguishers and safety equipment are readily available and in proper working condition. In case of any emergency or unsafe situation, immediate action and reporting to the HSE team or supervisor is required. After work completion, they also help confirm that no residual heat or fire hazards remain in the area. Maintaining strict compliance with safety procedures is a core responsibility of this role.

Skills and Knowledge

Applicants for Firewatch positions must have a basic understanding of industrial safety practices and emergency response procedures. Experience in shutdown projects, construction sites, or oil & gas environments is highly preferred. Candidates should be physically fit, attentive, and capable of working in demanding conditions for long hours. Knowledge of fire prevention techniques and hazard identification is essential. Good communication skills are required to report risks quickly and clearly to supervisors. Familiarity with documents such as IQAMA, Muqeem, insurance validity, and chamber agreements is also important. Preference is given to candidates who have completed safety training or hold relevant certifications.
