A Safety Officer plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and hazard-free working environment across industrial and construction sites. This position is especially important in large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia, where strict safety regulations and international standards must be followed. The main purpose of this role is to prevent accidents, reduce workplace risks, and ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with approved safety procedures. In industries such as oil & gas, construction, and maintenance—particularly projects linked with companies like Aramco—the Safety Officer acts as the key guardian of workforce protection and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring daily site activities and ensuring that all workers follow established safety guidelines. The role also involves enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), supervising high-risk tasks, and ensuring that all safety permits and documentation are properly maintained. Additionally, the Safety Officer conducts toolbox talks, safety inductions, and emergency response training to improve worker awareness. Another important duty is accident investigation and reporting, along with recommending corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

Skills and Knowledge

To be successful in this role, candidates must have strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, especially those related to Aramco-approved standards. Practical experience in construction or industrial environments is highly preferred. The ideal candidate should be able to identify risks quickly and take immediate corrective action when necessary. Good communication skills are essential for coordinating with workers, supervisors, and management teams. Familiarity with safety documentation, permits, and emergency procedures is also required.
