The Permit Receiver role is a critical position within industrial shutdown and maintenance projects, especially in heavy industries such as oil, gas, and petrochemical plants.  Key Responsibilities
The Permit Receiver is responsible for collecting, checking, and validating work permits before starting any assigned job activities. They ensure that all safety requirements are fulfilled, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and proper isolation of equipment where necessary. The role includes coordinating with the safety officer, supervisor, and permit issuing authority to confirm that all conditions are safe for work execution. They also monitor ongoing job activities to ensure compliance with permit conditions and immediately report any unsafe situation or violation. Another important duty is to maintain accurate documentation of all permits, ensuring records are properly stored for audit and inspection purposes. The Permit Receiver must also communicate effectively with the workforce to explain safety precautions and job-specific instructions.
Skills and Knowledge
A successful Permit Receiver must have strong knowledge of industrial safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and shutdown operations. Experience in oil and gas or construction site environments is highly preferred. Candidates should understand risk assessment techniques, isolation procedures, and emergency response protocols. Good communication skills are essential, as the role involves coordination with multiple departments and workers on-site. Basic documentation and computer skills are also required for maintaining permit records. A valid Iqama and knowledge of company safety standards such as Ajeer and chamber requirements are often mandatory.
