Description
The Safety Officer and WPR (Work Permit Receiver) roles are essential positions in the oil, gas, and industrial construction sectors. A Safety Officer ensures that all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in high-risk environments like gas plants. The WPR, on the other hand, is responsible for receiving, managing, and controlling work permits before any task begins at the site. These roles are crucial in preventing accidents, ensuring safe working conditions, and maintaining operational discipline. In projects such as Berry Gas Plant and Aramco-approved sites, safety compliance is strictly enforced, making these positions highly important for project success and workforce protection.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring that all safety procedures are strictly followed. They must provide safety training, monitor worker compliance, and report any unsafe conditions immediately. In addition, they are required to implement emergency response plans and ensure all activities align with Aramco safety standards.
The WPR will manage work permits for various site activities, ensuring that all documentation is properly approved before work begins. They will coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and safety teams to verify that job conditions are safe. Both roles require continuous monitoring of site operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all tasks are executed without violation of safety rules or procedures.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates must have strong knowledge of industrial safety regulations, especially Aramco-approved standards and gas plant safety procedures. For Safety Officers, certifications in safety management systems and experience in oil & gas projects are essential. For WPR candidates, a clear understanding of permit-to-work systems and hazard identification is required.
Applicants should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in industrial environments. Previous Gulf experience, especially in Saudi Aramco projects, will be highly preferred. Candidates must also be familiar with emergency response protocols, risk assessment procedures, and workplace inspection techniques. Only professionally qualified and approved individuals will be considered for these positions.
