Understanding the Manlift Operator Role
A Manlift Operator is responsible for safely operating mobile elevating work platforms to provide workers with controlled access to elevated areas. A competent operator understands the equipment’s operating limitations and ensures that the platform is positioned safely before allowing work to proceed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The selected operator will carry out pre-use equipment checks, operate the manlift according to authorized procedures, and position the platform safely for workers performing elevated tasks. The operator should monitor surrounding conditions, including overhead structures, electrical hazards, other equipment, vehicles, and personnel movement. Communication with supervisors and work crews is also important when positioning or relocating the equipment.

Maintaining proper housekeeping around the operating area and following all site traffic and safety instructions will also be part of responsible daily operations.
