The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment across construction and industrial project sites. This role focuses on implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and monitoring daily site activities to prevent accidents and injuries. In the industrial sector of Saudi Arabia, especially in large-scale projects like Jubail, Safety Officers are vital in maintaining workforce discipline and ensuring adherence to international and local safety regulations. The position requires continuous supervision, reporting hazards, and coordinating with project management teams to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and ensuring corrective actions are implemented immediately. They will monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce compliance with safety procedures among all workers. Another key responsibility includes conducting toolbox talks, safety inductions, and emergency preparedness training for site personnel. The Safety Officer must also investigate accidents or near-miss incidents, prepare detailed reports, and recommend preventive measures. Additionally, coordination with supervisors and engineers is required to ensure all operations meet approved safety standards and legal requirements.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for this role must possess strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, preferably holding certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA.
