WPR (Work Permit Receiver) ( Nos 10 )
Description
The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) role is a critical safety position in large-scale industrial and oil & gas projects, especially in Aramco-approved environments such as those in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia. This job ensures that all hazardous work activities are carried out only after proper authorization and safety clearance. A WPR acts as a vital link between site workers, supervisors, and safety departments by managing work permits and ensuring compliance with strict operational safety standards. The role is highly important because it directly contributes to accident prevention, safe execution of tasks, and adherence to Aramco’s world-class safety systems. Without proper WPR supervision, high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, and mechanical maintenance cannot proceed safely. This position is trusted for maintaining discipline, safety assurance, and operational control across industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
A Work Permit Receiver is responsible for obtaining, verifying, and managing work permits before any job activity begins on site. This includes coordinating with safety officers and supervisors to ensure that all required safety conditions are met. The WPR must review job scope, identify hazards, and confirm that proper precautions are in place before authorizing work to proceed. They are also responsible for ensuring that permits are valid, properly signed, and compliant with Aramco safety procedures.
In addition, the WPR monitors ongoing work activities to ensure compliance with permit conditions and safety requirements. They must stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are observed and report incidents or violations to the concerned authority. Maintaining accurate documentation, updating permit logs, and coordinating with different departments are also key responsibilities. The role demands constant communication with site teams to ensure smooth workflow while maintaining strict safety control.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for WPR positions must have strong knowledge of industrial safety systems, especially Aramco permit-to-work procedures. Experience in oil & gas or construction projects is highly preferred, particularly in Saudi Arabia or GCC countries. Applicants should understand different types of work permits such as hot work, cold work, confined space entry, and electrical isolation permits.
Good communication skills are essential for coordinating with supervisors, safety officers, and project teams. Basic English knowledge is required for documentation and reporting purposes. Candidates must be highly responsible, alert, and capable of working in high-pressure environments. Aramco approval and vendor code experience are strong advantages for selection. Familiarity with safety regulations, hazard identification, and site inspection procedures is also necessary for success in this role.
