Safety Officer – Saudi Arabia Required
Description
A Safety Officer is a key professional responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment across construction, industrial, oil and gas, and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on preventing workplace accidents, reducing operational risks, and ensuring that all employees follow established health, safety, and environmental regulations. In large industrial projects, especially those operating under strict client requirements such as Aramco standards, Safety Officers play a critical role in protecting both personnel and company assets.
Organizations depend on qualified Safety Officers to implement safety policies, conduct inspections, identify hazards, and promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the workplace. Their presence helps improve productivity, reduce downtime caused by incidents, and ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations. For projects located in high-risk industrial environments, experienced Safety Officers are considered essential members of the project management and safety teams.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of a Safety Officer is to monitor daily site activities and ensure compliance with approved safety procedures. This includes conducting routine inspections, identifying unsafe conditions, investigating incidents, and recommending corrective actions. Safety Officers also verify that workers are using personal protective equipment correctly and following site-specific safety requirements.
In addition, Safety Officers coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and project managers to ensure that all work activities are performed safely. They conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness programs to educate workers about potential hazards and preventive measures. The role also involves maintaining safety records, preparing reports, reviewing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with company policies and client safety standards.
Skills and Knowledge
Successful Safety Officers must possess strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, hazard identification techniques, risk assessment procedures, and emergency response planning. Candidates should have practical experience working in industrial, construction, or oil and gas environments where strict safety compliance is required.
For this opportunity, applicants should hold original NEBOSH and IOSH certifications and have a minimum of five years of experience in Saudi Arabia. Previous experience on Aramco projects is highly preferred because of the strict safety standards involved. Strong communication skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to influence safe work practices are essential. Safety Officers must also be confident in conducting inspections, reporting findings, and coordinating with different departments to maintain a safe work environment.
