The SBM (Standby Man / Fire Watch) position plays an essential role in maintaining workplace safety during hazardous industrial operations. These professionals are responsible for monitoring hot work activities, identifying potential fire hazards, ensuring emergency readiness, and supporting the site’s overall health and safety program. Candidates with practical field experience and a strong commitment to safety standards are encouraged to apply.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As an SBM / Fire Watch, you will continuously monitor hot work areas, identify unsafe conditions, and respond immediately to any fire-related risks. You will ensure that fire extinguishers and emergency equipment remain accessible, verify that work permits are followed correctly, and maintain constant communication with supervisors and safety personnel throughout each task.
The role also requires inspecting work locations before, during, and after hot work activities, preventing unauthorized access to hazardous areas, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and assisting in emergency response whenever required. Successful candidates must always follow company safety procedures while maintaining a safe working environment for everyone on site.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Applicants should have proven experience working as an SBM (Standby Man) or Fire Watch in industrial projects. Candidates must possess good knowledge of fire prevention procedures, workplace hazard identification, emergency response practices, and industrial safety regulations. Strong communication skills, physical fitness, and the ability to remain alert throughout the shift are highly valued.
All applicants must have a valid Absher Iqama, Muqeem with at least three months validity, Medical Fitness Certificate, CR Copy, Chamber Registration, Passport Copy, and must bring their Original Passport when visiting the office. Candidates should be available for direct mobilization immediately after selection.
