Safety Officer (Location: Abqaiq)

Position Overview

A reputable organization is urgently seeking highly experienced Safety Officers (HSE Officers) for a specialized brownfield project in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia. This opportunity is strictly for candidates who already hold Abqaiq Brownfield approval, making it a highly specialized and critical role within the oil and gas industry.

The selected Safety Officers will be directly deployed to the project site, reflecting the urgent nature of this requirement. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure strict compliance with Aramco safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection in a high-risk operational environment.

This role is ideal for professionals with strong industrial safety experience who are capable of working under pressure and ensuring zero-compromise safety standards in oil and gas operations.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Safety Officer (HSE Officer) will be responsible for overseeing all safety-related activities on-site. This includes conducting regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing immediate corrective actions to prevent incidents or accidents.

A key responsibility of this role is ensuring strict compliance with Aramco safety standards and ensuring that all workers follow approved safety procedures at all times. The Safety Officer will also monitor work permits to ensure all high-risk activities are properly authorized before execution.

Additional duties include ensuring the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), maintaining detailed safety records, and preparing daily or weekly safety reports. The officer will also conduct toolbox talks, deliver safety briefings, and provide on-site training to workers to promote awareness and risk prevention.

In emergency situations, the Safety Officer must respond immediately, take control of the situation, and ensure the safety of all personnel. Their role is critical in minimizing risk and maintaining a safe working environment in demanding oil and gas conditions.


Skills and Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in oil and gas projects, particularly in safety-related roles. Prior approval for Aramco projects is mandatory, along with Abqaiq Brownfield approval, which is a key requirement for this position.

Candidates must also possess strong technical knowledge in safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk assessment procedures. Required certifications include:

  • NEBOSH IGC
  • First Aid Certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

A valid Iqama and Ajeer registration are also mandatory for all applicants.

In addition to technical qualifications, candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and the confidence to enforce safety rules in challenging industrial environments. Physical fitness and readiness for immediate deployment are also essential requirements.
