A Scaffolder plays a vital role in the construction and industrial sector by assembling, maintaining, and dismantling temporary structures used to support workers and materials at elevated heights. Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of a Scaffolder include erecting and dismantling scaffolding structures according to technical drawings and site requirements. Workers must ensure that all scaffolding is properly secured and stable before allowing other workers to access elevated platforms. They are also responsible for inspecting scaffolding components regularly to identify damage, wear, or safety risks. In addition, scaffolders assist in transporting materials, maintaining tools, and following instructions from site supervisors or engineers. Safety compliance is a critical part of the job, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site safety regulations at all times.
Skills and Knowledge
A successful Scaffolder must possess strong practical knowledge of scaffolding systems, including tube and fitting, system scaffolds, and modular structures. Basic understanding of construction site safety rules and hazard identification is essential. Candidates should have physical fitness, good balance, and the ability to work at heights without hesitation. Previous experience in construction or industrial projects is highly preferred. Communication skills are also important, as scaffolders must coordinate with other workers and supervisors. Certification in scaffolding or safety training is considered an added advantage in most Gulf construction projects.
