Description
Safety Supervisor roles are highly important in maintaining safe working environments across industrial and petrochemical projects, especially in large-scale operations such as Maaden facilities in Saudi Arabia. This position is responsible for ensuring that all safety procedures are strictly followed on-site to prevent accidents, protect workers, and maintain compliance with company and industry regulations. The role becomes even more critical during shutdown and maintenance activities, where multiple high-risk tasks are performed simultaneously under strict time constraints. Safety Supervisors act as the frontline defenders of workplace safety, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a controlled and hazard-free environment. Their presence helps reduce operational risks, improve productivity, and support smooth project execution in demanding industrial conditions.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for monitoring all site activities and ensuring that workers comply with established safety rules and regulations. They conduct regular inspections of the work area to identify hazards and take immediate corrective actions when unsafe conditions are observed. Another key responsibility includes verifying that all personnel are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. During shutdown operations, they coordinate closely with project engineers and site management to ensure that high-risk tasks are performed safely and efficiently. They also participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and emergency drills to improve awareness among workers. Additionally, Safety Supervisors are required to prepare detailed safety reports, document incidents, and recommend preventive measures to avoid future risks.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for the Safety Supervisor position must have strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and practical site experience, particularly in Maaden or shutdown projects. A deep understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures is essential for this role. Experience in supervising large teams in industrial environments is highly preferred. Applicants should also be familiar with permit-to-work systems and safety compliance documentation. Strong leadership skills, decision-making ability, and clear communication are necessary to manage workers effectively in high-pressure environments. Physical fitness and the ability to remain alert during long working hours are also important. Previous experience in petrochemical, mining, or construction industries in Saudi Arabia will be considered a strong advantage.
