Primary Responsibilities and Daily Duties
The Firewatcher is responsible for observing work areas where hot work is being performed and ensuring all fire safety precautions are strictly followed. Daily duties include monitoring welding and cutting operations, checking fire extinguishers and safety equipment, identifying potential fire hazards, and maintaining a safe working environment. The Firewatcher must remain alert at all times to detect smoke, sparks, or unsafe conditions and respond immediately to prevent fire outbreaks. Additional responsibilities include keeping fire watch logs, coordinating with safety officers and supervisors, and ensuring compliance with site safety rules and regulations. Continuous presence during hazardous operations is mandatory.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Applicants should possess relevant industrial safety experience, preferably in firewatching or related safety roles. A TUV certification is required for this position. Candidates must have strong knowledge of fire safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and hazard identification techniques. The ability to stay focused for long periods, follow instructions accurately, and maintain strict safety discipline is essential.
