Safety Officer and Work Permit Receiver (WPR)
Description
Safety Officer and Work Permit Receiver (WPR) positions are essential roles in industrial, oil and gas, and construction projects where maintaining workplace safety and operational control is a top priority. These professionals ensure that site activities are performed according to approved safety procedures, client requirements, and industry standards. Companies working on major industrial projects depend on qualified safety personnel to prevent incidents, control risks, and maintain a safe working environment.
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices, while the Work Permit Receiver manages permit-to-work activities and ensures that all tasks are properly authorized before starting. Both positions require strong safety awareness, technical knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with supervisors, workers, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring daily site activities, conducting safety inspections, identifying workplace hazards, and ensuring compliance with Saudi Aramco safety requirements. The role includes conducting toolbox talks, checking personal protective equipment (PPE), preparing safety reports, investigating incidents, and recommending corrective actions to improve workplace safety. The Safety Officer also supports supervisors and workers by promoting safe work practices and maintaining a strong safety culture across the project.
The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) is responsible for controlling and managing the permit-to-work system. The WPR verifies that all required safety precautions are completed before work begins and ensures that workers follow approved permit conditions. Duties include reviewing work permits, coordinating with operations and safety teams, monitoring high-risk activities, and stopping unsafe work when necessary. The WPR plays a key role in maintaining proper communication between different departments and ensuring safe execution of site activities.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for these positions should have relevant industrial experience and a strong understanding of Saudi Aramco safety procedures. Safety Officers must have knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident prevention, emergency response, and HSE documentation. WPR candidates should understand permit-to-work systems, job safety requirements, and industrial safety controls.
Applicants must have good communication skills, leadership ability, and the confidence to work in demanding industrial environments. Previous Saudi Aramco project experience is preferred. Candidates should possess valid employment documents and be ready for immediate mobilization.
