SAFETY OFFICER – NON ARAMCO AND ARAMCO PROJECT
Description
A Safety Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a secure and hazard-free working environment, especially in large-scale industrial and construction projects across Saudi Arabia. This position focuses on ensuring that all safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements are strictly followed at project sites such as Jubail-2 and Marjan. Safety Officers are responsible for preventing accidents, reducing risks, and promoting a strong culture of workplace safety among workers and supervisors. Their presence is essential in high-risk environments where heavy machinery, complex operations, and large manpower are involved. By implementing safety standards and conducting regular inspections, Safety Officers help protect both employees and company assets while ensuring smooth project execution without delays caused by incidents or violations.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibility of a Safety Officer is to monitor and enforce safety procedures on-site at all times. This includes conducting daily safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and taking immediate corrective actions to prevent accidents. They ensure that all workers are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following approved safety guidelines. Safety Officers also organize toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness sessions to educate workers about risks and safe practices. In addition, they prepare and maintain safety reports, incident records, and compliance documentation required by clients such as SATROP and Aramco. Coordinating with site supervisors, engineers, and management is also a key part of the role to ensure that safety measures are integrated into every stage of the project.
Skills and Knowledge
To succeed as a Safety Officer, candidates must have a strong understanding of occupational health and safety standards, particularly those required in Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector. Approval certifications such as SATROP or Aramco are highly valued and often mandatory. Applicants should possess good communication skills to effectively instruct workers and report to management. Practical experience in construction or oil and gas projects is important, along with the ability to assess risks and respond quickly in emergency situations. A valid Iqama, chamber documentation, and complete professional records are required for eligibility. Physical fitness, attention to detail, and a responsible attitude are also essential qualities for maintaining a safe and disciplined work environment.
