The Safety Officer position offered by Middle East Friends Contracting (MEFCO) plays a vital role in ensuring workplace safety standards are strictly followed across industrial and construction project sites in Saudi Arabia. The job is based in Ranigh for a long-term project and requires candidates with at least 5 years of non-Aramco experience in safety-related roles. The purpose of this position is to reduce workplace hazards, protect workers, and ensure that all construction activities are carried out according to approved safety procedures. In today’s industrial sector, safety officers are essential because they help prevent accidents, maintain productivity, and ensure legal compliance on large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
The selected Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring daily site activities and ensuring all workers follow safety rules and regulations. Duties include conducting regular site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring corrective actions are taken immediately. The role also involves conducting toolbox talks, guiding workers on proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining safety documentation as required by project management. The Safety Officer must ensure that all work activities are carried out only after proper approvals and permits are issued. Additionally, they will coordinate with supervisors and engineers to ensure safe execution of tasks, report incidents or near-misses, and support emergency response procedures when required. Maintaining discipline and strict adherence to safety protocols is a key responsibility of this role.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in safety-related roles, preferably in construction or industrial environments. Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, risk assessment procedures, and hazard identification techniques is essential. Applicants should be familiar with site documentation systems such as Ajeer, Muqeem, and valid Iqama processing requirements. Good communication skills are necessary to interact with workers and supervisors effectively. The ability to conduct safety training sessions and enforce compliance on site is highly important.
