Safety Officers ( Rate 19 & 28 )

Description

A Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment on construction and industrial sites by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. In major oil and gas projects, their role becomes even more critical due to the high-risk nature of operations involving heavy machinery, hazardous materials, and large workforces. The Safety Officer ensures that all activities are conducted safely and that workers are fully aware of safety protocols. This position is essential in reducing workplace incidents, improving safety culture, and ensuring uninterrupted project progress in line with client expectations and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Officer is required to conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken. They are responsible for enforcing safety rules, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining safety documentation for compliance purposes. They also conduct regular toolbox talks and safety training sessions to educate workers on hazard awareness and safe working practices. In addition, they coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and project management teams to ensure all operations follow approved safety procedures. Emergency preparedness is another key responsibility, including participation in drills, incident reporting, and assisting in accident investigations to prevent future occurrences.

Skills and Knowledge

A qualified Safety Officer must have strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, particularly within oil and gas or construction environments. Certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, OSHA, and BLS are highly required for this role. Candidates should possess a diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including Aramco-approved site exposure. Strong communication skills, leadership ability, risk assessment expertise, and attention to detail are essential. The ability to handle emergency situations effectively and enforce strict safety compliance on site is also critical for success in this role.
