Description
A Scaffolder is a skilled construction professional responsible for assembling, modifying, and dismantling temporary scaffold structures used to provide safe access to elevated work areas. Scaffolders play a critical role in construction, industrial maintenance, oil and gas facilities, and infrastructure projects where workers must perform tasks at heights safely and efficiently. Their work directly contributes to workplace safety by ensuring that platforms, walkways, and support structures are built according to approved engineering standards and project requirements. On major industrial projects, including ARAMCO developments, qualified Scaffolders are essential for supporting construction crews, maintenance teams, and inspection personnel. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to work in demanding environments while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of a Scaffolder is to erect, inspect, alter, and dismantle scaffold systems in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards. They inspect scaffolding components for defects, verify load capacities, and ensure compliance with project specifications. Daily duties include assembling tubes, boards, fittings, and support structures while maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel. Scaffolders also coordinate with supervisors, safety teams, and other trades to ensure work activities proceed without interruption. In industrial projects, they may assist with access solutions for maintenance, inspection, and construction activities while ensuring compliance with all site safety regulations and client requirements.
Skills and Knowledge
Successful Scaffolders possess strong practical knowledge of scaffolding systems, fall protection requirements, and workplace safety procedures. Candidates must hold a valid TUV Scaffolding certification, which is mandatory for this position. Previous experience in industrial construction, oil and gas facilities, or ARAMCO projects is highly beneficial. Scaffolders should have the ability to interpret technical drawings, identify potential hazards, and follow safe work practices at all times. Physical fitness, balance, and the ability to work at heights are important requirements for the role.
