Firewatcher / Work Permit Receiver
Firewatcher and Work Permit Receiver (WPR) roles are essential safety positions required in industrial and petrochemical facilities to ensure safe execution of hot work and controlled site activities. In Sipchem projects located in Jubail, these roles play a vital part in preventing fire hazards, monitoring hazardous operations, and ensuring strict compliance with industrial safety standards. These positions are critical in maintaining a safe working environment in high-risk operational areas where strict monitoring and permit control are required.
Key Responsibilities and Job Duties
The Firewatcher will be responsible for monitoring hot work activities such as welding, cutting, and grinding to ensure that no fire hazards occur during operations. Duties include maintaining constant vigilance at work sites, ensuring fire extinguishers and safety equipment are available, and immediately responding to any fire-related risks or emergencies. Firewatchers must remain present at assigned locations throughout the duration of hot work activities.
The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) will be responsible for receiving, verifying, and managing work permits before any job is executed on-site. Duties include ensuring that all safety requirements are met, permits are properly approved, and risk assessments are completed before work begins. The WPR will coordinate with supervisors and safety teams to ensure compliance with Sipchem safety standards and prevent unauthorized or unsafe operations.
