Each of these roles plays a vital part in maintaining workplace safety and ensuring all activities are conducted according to approved procedures. Permit systems are used to authorize hazardous work, Fire Watch teams monitor hot work operations, and Safety Officers supervise overall site safety compliance. These roles are essential for preventing accidents, reducing risk, and ensuring smooth shutdown execution without delays or safety violations.
Key Responsibilities
Permit Receivers are responsible for verifying and issuing work permits before any task begins on-site. They ensure that all safety checks, risk assessments, and approvals are completed properly before allowing work to proceed. They also coordinate closely with supervisors and safety teams to maintain compliance with shutdown protocols. Fire Watch personnel are assigned to observe hot work activities such as welding, grinding, and cutting. Their duty is to detect fire hazards, ensure fire extinguishers are available, and respond immediately in case of any emergency situation. Safety Officers are responsible for conducting regular inspections, identifying unsafe conditions, enforcing safety regulations, and ensuring all workers follow approved HSE standards. They also maintain safety documentation, conduct toolbox talks, and report any incidents or near-misses to project management. All personnel must work as a coordinated team to maintain a safe and controlled shutdown environment.
Skills and Knowledge
