Work Permit Receiver (WPR)

 Description

The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) is a crucial safety position widely used in oil, gas, and construction industries, especially in large-scale projects such as Aramco operations in Saudi Arabia. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that all site activities are performed under proper authorization and strict safety control. A Work Permit Receiver acts as the official site representative who receives, verifies, and manages work permits before any job begins. This ensures that all hazards are identified, risk assessments are completed, and control measures are properly implemented. The importance of this role lies in maintaining a safe working environment, preventing accidents, and ensuring full compliance with company and client safety standards. In high-risk industrial environments like Haradh, the WPR plays a vital role in coordinating between safety officers, supervisors, and field workers to ensure smooth and safe execution of operations.

 Key Responsibilities

The Work Permit Receiver is responsible for receiving and reviewing all types of work permits issued by the safety or operations department. Before any activity starts, the WPR ensures that all safety conditions, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses are properly completed and clearly understood by the working team. The role involves coordinating with supervisors, engineers, and safety officers to confirm that the job site is fully safe for execution. The WPR must ensure that all activities strictly follow the approved permit conditions without any deviation. Monitoring ongoing work activities is also a key responsibility, ensuring compliance with safety procedures throughout the job duration. In case of any unsafe condition or violation, the WPR must immediately report and stop the work if necessary to prevent incidents and maintain site safety standards.

 Skills and Knowledge

A qualified Work Permit Receiver must have strong knowledge of industrial safety systems, especially permit-to-work procedures used in oil and gas projects. Candidates should understand hazard identification, risk control methods, and emergency response procedures. Good communication skills are essential for interacting with multiple teams including supervisors, engineers, and safety officers. Attention to detail is very important as even small mistakes in permit handling can lead to serious safety issues. Experience in Aramco or similar industrial environments is highly preferred. A valid WPR certification and strong understanding of safety regulations are required. The candidate must also be responsible, disciplined, and capable of following strict site procedures without compromise.
