Description
The HSE Officer and WPR roles are critical in maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards across industrial job sites. The HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring that all safety procedures are followed, hazards are identified, and preventive measures are implemented to avoid accidents. The Work Permit Receiver ensures that no job begins without proper authorization and safety clearance from the relevant authorities. Both roles work closely together to maintain a controlled working environment. In industries like oil, gas, and petrochemicals such as SABIC, these positions are vital for ensuring compliance with international safety regulations and protecting both manpower and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
The HSE Officer is responsible for conducting regular safety inspections, monitoring workplace activities, and ensuring compliance with HSE policies. They organize safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to educate workers about risk prevention. The WPR is responsible for obtaining and verifying work permits before any task begins, ensuring that all safety checks are completed and approved. Both roles involve identifying hazards, reporting unsafe conditions, and ensuring corrective actions are taken immediately. They must also coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and safety teams to maintain smooth workflow while ensuring strict adherence to safety rules and SABIC standards.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates must have strong knowledge of industrial safety standards, particularly SABIC-approved procedures. For HSE Officers, a background in occupational health and safety, along with recognized certifications, is required. Experience in large-scale oil, gas, or petrochemical projects is highly preferred. WPR candidates must be familiar with permit-to-work systems and safety documentation processes. Both roles require excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in high-risk environments. A valid iqama, medical fitness, and prior experience in similar industrial roles are essential for successful selection.
