Description
The Safety Officer position focuses on maintaining a safe and controlled work environment in high-risk industrial projects. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all construction and operational activities comply with Aramco safety standards and international occupational health guidelines. Safety Officers are responsible for monitoring site activities, identifying potential risks, and implementing preventive measures to avoid accidents. In industries such as oil and gas, where heavy machinery and hazardous operations are common, the Safety Officer acts as the frontline guardian of workforce safety and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Officer is responsible for conducting regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations. They monitor workers’ behavior on-site and ensure that all personnel are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE). They also conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills to keep workers aware of potential hazards. In addition, they investigate accidents or near-miss incidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions. Coordination with project managers and site engineers is essential to ensure that safety standards are maintained at all stages of work. The role also includes enforcing safety rules strictly without compromise.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates must have strong knowledge of Aramco safety standards and industrial safety procedures. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in large construction or oil and gas projects is required. The ideal candidate should hold a degree in a relevant field along with recognized safety certifications. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively train workers and report safety issues. The ability to identify hazards quickly, make decisions under pressure, and maintain strict discipline on-site is essential. Experience in handling safety documentation, risk assessments, and emergency response planning is highly preferred for this role.
