Rigger 1 & 2 – Non Aramco
Description
A Rigger is a highly skilled industrial worker responsible for the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy materials, equipment, and structures at construction and industrial project sites. This role is essential in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, infrastructure development, and large-scale construction projects where heavy lifting operations are carried out daily. The primary purpose of a Rigger is to ensure that all lifting activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with strict engineering and safety standards. Riggers play a crucial role in preventing accidents and ensuring smooth project execution by coordinating closely with crane operators, supervisors, and safety teams. In high-demand regions such as Saudi Arabia, experienced riggers are considered valuable assets due to the increasing number of industrial and infrastructure projects. Their expertise directly contributes to workplace safety, productivity, and successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of a Rigger include preparing and securing loads for lifting operations, selecting appropriate rigging equipment, and ensuring all lifting activities are carried out safely. Riggers inspect slings, shackles, hooks, and other lifting tools before use to ensure they are in proper working condition. They communicate with crane operators using standard signals to guide the movement of loads accurately and safely. Another important responsibility is to calculate load weights and ensure proper balance during lifting to avoid accidents or equipment damage. Riggers also participate in safety meetings, follow lifting plans, and comply with site safety regulations at all times. They are responsible for identifying potential hazards in the work area and taking corrective actions immediately. In addition, they assist supervisors in planning lifting activities and ensure that all operations are completed within the required timeline while maintaining safety standards.
Skills and Knowledge
Successful Riggers must have strong knowledge of lifting techniques, rigging equipment, and workplace safety procedures. Candidates should be physically fit and capable of working in demanding outdoor environments. Experience in construction or industrial projects is highly preferred. A good understanding of load calculations, lifting angles, and equipment handling is essential for performing tasks safely and efficiently. Riggers must also have strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with crane operators and team members. Attention to detail, quick decision-making ability, and awareness of safety protocols are critical for this role. Many employers prefer candidates with certified rigging training or relevant safety certifications. Practical experience in handling heavy machinery and working under pressure adds significant value to a candidate’s profile.
