Description

The Safety Officer plays a vital role in maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within the workplace. This position is responsible for ensuring that all site operations are carried out in accordance with approved safety regulations and industry guidelines. In large-scale industrial projects, especially in Petro KEMYA-approved environments, safety officers act as the backbone of risk prevention systems. Their purpose is to identify hazards before they occur, ensure compliance with safety laws, and protect workers from potential injuries. This role is essential in maintaining smooth project execution without accidents or operational delays.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Officer is responsible for conducting regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented immediately. He must monitor ongoing activities, ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and verify that all workers follow safety procedures. Another major responsibility includes preparing safety reports, conducting toolbox talks, and delivering safety training sessions for workers. The officer also coordinates with supervisors and engineers to ensure all permits and approvals are in place before starting any task. Emergency response planning and incident reporting are also key duties of this role.

Skills and Knowledge

A qualified Safety Officer must have strong knowledge of industrial safety standards, especially related to oil, gas, and construction environments. Experience in Petro KEMYA-approved projects and E&PM compliance is highly required. Candidates should understand risk assessment procedures, hazard identification techniques, and emergency response planning. Good communication skills are essential for delivering safety instructions clearly to workers from different backgrounds. Familiarity with electrical work environments is an added advantage. The role also requires the ability to prepare reports, maintain documentation, and ensure strict compliance with company and client safety policies.
