Description
A Scaffolder is an essential construction site professional responsible for assembling, maintaining, and dismantling scaffolding structures that provide safe access for workers at height. This role is highly important in construction, oil & gas, and industrial projects where elevated work is required on a daily basis. Scaffolders ensure that all structures are built according to engineering standards and safety regulations, minimizing risks for workers on site. Their work directly supports the productivity and safety of multiple trades including welders, electricians, painters, and civil workers. In large projects across Saudi Arabia, scaffolders are a backbone of safe construction operations.
Key Responsibilities
The main duties of a scaffolder include erecting and dismantling scaffolding systems in compliance with project requirements and safety guidelines. They must inspect all scaffolding materials before use to confirm they are safe, stable, and suitable for installation. Scaffolders carefully follow technical drawings and instructions provided by supervisors or engineers. They are also responsible for ensuring all platforms are properly secured and capable of supporting workers and materials. Regular maintenance checks and immediate reporting of any hazards or defects are also part of their responsibilities to ensure a safe working environment.
Skills and Knowledge
A skilled scaffolder must have strong knowledge of scaffolding techniques, construction safety rules, and load-bearing structures. Experience in handling different types of scaffolding systems such as tubular and modular scaffolds is highly important. Physical strength, balance, and the ability to work at heights are essential for this role. Good teamwork and communication skills help ensure coordination on busy construction sites. Previous experience in Gulf countries, especially in large industrial projects, is highly valued. Safety training certifications and hands-on site experience further strengthen a candidate’s profile.
