 Description

The shutdown maintenance workforce is responsible for executing critical plant maintenance activities during scheduled facility shutdowns. These roles are essential for ensuring that equipment, pipelines, electrical systems, and instrumentation units are properly inspected, repaired, and restored before production resumes. The purpose of this job is to support industrial reliability and operational safety by addressing technical issues within a limited timeframe. Shutdown projects are highly important in industries such as oil and gas because they minimize unexpected breakdowns, improve plant efficiency, and ensure compliance with international safety standards. Professionals in these roles must be capable of working in challenging environments while maintaining precision and discipline.

Key Responsibilities

The selected workforce will be assigned specific duties based on their trade and experience. Mechanical technicians will handle dismantling, repairing, and assembling machinery, while fabricators and welders will perform cutting, shaping, and welding tasks as per engineering requirements. Safety officers, fire watchers, and hole watchers will ensure that all activities are conducted safely, following permit-to-work systems and hazard control procedures. Permit receivers will manage documentation and authorization for site operations. Supervisors and coordinators will oversee manpower, monitor progress, and ensure smooth execution of shutdown activities. Electrical and instrumentation technicians will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and restoration of control systems, ensuring all equipment functions properly after shutdown completion.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidates must possess strong technical knowledge relevant to their respective roles, along with practical experience in industrial shutdown environments. Mechanical and fabrication workers should be skilled in reading technical drawings and using industrial tools efficiently. Welders must demonstrate proficiency in structural and pipeline welding techniques. Electrical and instrumentation technicians must have a solid understanding of wiring systems, control panels, and fault diagnosis. Safety personnel must be knowledgeable in workplace hazard identification, emergency response, and permit-to-work systems. Supervisory staff should have leadership experience and the ability to manage teams under pressure. Prior Gulf experience will be considered an added advantage for all positions.
